The central point of this article is masculinity, one of the controversial issues of gender studies. Therefore, our goal was to detect, define and analyze a form of masculinity constructed by the print media. For this, a survey was conducted in 12 editions of the Brazilian magazine Men’s Health, published between 2011 and 2012. The results demonstrate that this is an important segment of pedagogical diffusion of ideas from one type of masculinity, which assimilates the condition identity to muscular bodies.
Key words: masculinity, muscular body, printed media, representations.
