Abstract

This article presents part of the doctoral research carried out in a unit of Early Childhood Education in Santos, in the state of São Paulo. The research was based on the ethnographic method, and it aimed to think about children from their own point of view by investigating the meanings of the forms of communication. This article focused on the analysis of this process of constructing an unusual relationship with children provided by the ethnographic encounter. When adventuring in this research on ethnography with children, the researcher faced challenges, but could access other dimensions on the subject, expanding her repertoire and world view. And this experience was only possible because of the unusual adult that she allowed herself to become.
