The article discusses Afro-vegan activism in social media based on the analysis of the Instagram profile of key actors in this movement. Between March and July 2020, we identified public profiles of users who declared themselves to be afro-vegans. Then, we analyzed the description, the number of followers, the frequency of posts and the reactions of followers to the 21 profiles we had identified. After that, the analysis of the content of these profiles was developed in order to categorize the messages presented to the public, whether in the form of posts, stories or lives. As expected, the results identified anti-speciesism and anti-racism as main and recurring messages guiding the afro-vegan movement. However, contrary to previous studies suggesting a convergence of meanings, our results demonstrate that the Afro-vegan Movement highlights the differences between anti-racism and anti-speciesism.
